A characterful barber shop logo that combines scissors, a mustache, and a gentleman’s face into one distinctive visual idea.
Logo concept development and design, bringing together a bespoke symbol and distinctive wordmark.
Mister Cutts needed a distinctive identity that communicated barbering at a glance while giving the business a personality of its own. The challenge was to turn familiar grooming imagery into something recognizable, memorable and unmistakably connected to the name.
Make the service and the name work together. We used a visual double meaning to connect the tools of barbering with the personality of “Mister Cutts”: a pair of scissors becomes a gentleman’s face, complete with a mustache. The result balances immediate category recognition with a playful detail that rewards a second look.
The logo centers on a compact, single-color symbol combining scissors with a stylized face and mustache. Minimal detailing keeps the visual idea clear, with the scissors’ pivot doubling as the figure’s nose.
The Mister Cutts logo attracted independent design coverage for its inventive combination of barbering tools and character. WebUrbanist included it in its selection of “15 Creative Custom Company & Business Logo Designs,” crediting designer Tabitha Ayers. Logogenie later used it as an example of creative logo design, highlighting both the scissors-and-face symbol and the wordmark's detailing.
